Public Talks

Sha Chung practitioners have a strong interest in increasing public awareness of the principles of Tibetan Medicine.  We are planning and available to give public talks about the following topics and more:

  • General overview of Tibetan Medicine
  • The Differences and similarities between Tibetan Medicine and other healing systems (Allopathic, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Āyurveda, etc…)
  • How the 5 elements and 6 tastes inform diet and seasonal behavior
  • The relationship between Tibetan Medicine and Buddhist Dharma
  • The relationship between Tibetan medical theory and Yoga
  • Tibetan Medicine as practiced in Modern China

Tibetan Buddhist Medicine: An Introduction
SIUC Student Center, Carbondale, IL
3-4:30 PM – Saturday, March 2nd, 2013

Please join us for an introduction to Tibetan Medicine presented by the Sha Chung Healing Group’s Doctors of Tibetan Medicine, Monika Budáčová and Todd Marek. This introduction will present an abridged history of the development of Traditional Tibetan Medicine up to present times, followed by an introduction to the foundational theories of the 5 elements, 3 faults/humors and their 15 subdivisions, the 6 tastes, and their Buddhist philosophical foundations. It will also introduce the Tibetan Medical approach to healthy living and disease prevention through an overview of appropriate diet, and daily and seasonal behavior.
